It seems like summer is fleeting in this part of the world so let me keep this short so we can get out and enjoy it!

I have been staying hydrated with this refreshing drink combo.

I found the “Bitter GiGi Red” non alcoholic aperitif at the Italian Centre here in Calgary and a splash of it tastes great with an old favorite – Fresca! The Bitter is just a sugar syrup with flavours and the Fresca – as you may know – is a grapefruit soda. If you don’t like that ‘sugar-free’ taste of Fresca- try it with a grapefruit flavoured sparkling water instead. Delicious.

The second thing I am loving this summer is a slightly oversized button down shirt. I found a couple at the thift store awhile back – just head to the men’s section for best selection.

This one I wore as a swimsuit coverup in Mexico but also lots of other ways as well.

If you have a bit more of a budget, I have heard rave reviews about this Canadian company called Power of my People and their linen shirts. They look really nice! This video shows 20 ways to wear a linen shirt (maybe 10 if you don’t want to flaunt your mid section!) by a sustainable fashion youtuber featuring this company.

Finally, I love citrus scents in the summer. The smell of lemons or grapefruit or bergamont or orange is uplifting and fresh. Citrus scents are known for not being very long lasting but hey – you can always re-spray! Here are the three that are on my bathroom counter in the summer.

One the left is Acqua Colonia – Lemon and Ginger. This one is a very inexpensive eau de cologne that does not last but it is nice to spray in the morning for a refreshing pick me up.

The middle one is from the Aqua Allegoria line by Guerlain called Mandarine-Basilic . It is the most long lasting and complex of the three, and it starts with a juicy orange note and goes on to be very herbal. Love.

The third one is by Atelier Cologne called Orange Sanguine. This one I got in a travel spray but it seems hard to find now. It is the smell of clementines.

A very citrusy blog post this month!
