Another post about food! I will move on from this topic next month I promise but since I have been asked about this, I’m going to share some recipe ideas.
I really enjoy eating at restaurants once in a while. Dinner out with friends is fun but for the most part I like to cook at home.
Even when I travel, I always want small kitchen, especially for breakfast and lunch but the truth is I am not an avid cook anymore. There is a lot of cooking and washing up in the life of a mother with younger children. They pretty much want to eat everyday- sometimes all day. haha
I feel like putting dinner on the table every night as a mom kind of burned me out. I eat in a pretty repetitive way now for the most part and that is not a bad thing. I eat for fuel and health and taste and enjoyment and if those things are not in place, it is not sustainable for me.
I’m not an expert but a couple of people have recently asked me for some recipes that would boost their protein intake so I thought I’d share some of my favorite sites for recipes.
1. Alison Roman’s channel is fabulous – I have made this slow cooked salmon and loved it. I cooked a big piece and had it throughout the week on quinoa and with a bagel.
2. Don’t judge me for this next one. I honestly stopped noticing this guy spends 80% of his videos without a shirt on 🙂 He looks very young to me and his channel is for the bros who want to get jacked so – I’m definitely not his demographic.
But this breakfast bread casserole is amazing! I have made it a couple of times now and even the kids love it. I did not use the sugar free sweeteners called for in the recipe – the protein powder is usually sweetened and I don’t think it needs it. Also I used Challah bread instead of ‘low calorie’ bread. I did add some sugar free vanilla syrup to the greek yogurt ‘frosting’.
Here is the screen shot of the recipe
3. Finally I just discovered this guy and I am going to definitely make this for a dinner with the kids and I am going to try these– the reviews are very good!
Hope you enjoy and find something you might like to try here. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
Alison is hilarious and so is her bug-eyed dill! Thanks!
Ya – she is a gem!
