I love a good DIY beauty project.

Crazy eyebrows, chin hairs and thinning hair are things both men and women face as we age. Personal grooming challenges are something we can all share!

But if you have ever tried to get a man to moisturize, (and I have) you know the product has to be neutral or manly. It certainly can’t be called “Just for Women”.

Also, I share this blog for fun and entertainment and I want to emphasize I am not an expert when it comes to skin care or hair care. I will link to actual experts when I can here.

Because science matters.

So let us all think outside the gender box and share our products.

I mentioned I ‘shaved’ my face during a recent zoom solstice gathering with my friends. One of the others said she had shaved for years and all the rest said “whaaat?”

This generated a lot of interest so this is my first manly tip. Shaving.

I heard a doctor say once he thought men had fewer lines around their mouth because they shaved. Shaving is daily exfoliation after all.

Also, many of us fair skinned women have a lot of ‘peach fuzz’ and it gets more pronounced as we age. A light shave also helps shed dead skin cells.

But I don’t really shave as you might picture it. A light pressure with something like this or this and a good mirror every six weeks is enough for me.

Remember how I said I’m no expert? I am not saying you should shave! I’m just saying it is an option 🙂

The second one is something I have not actually started using yet, but it is the Nioxin system for a certain type of hair loss. I know it looks like I have a huge head of hair (in some ways I do 🙁 ) but around my temples it is really receding! Anyway, I am going to try this stuff out. I will let you know how it goes.

Finally, I have talked about dying my eyebrows  before with “Just for Men”. I love how it colors my brows just enough so they are not grey. It is not an original idea – apparently the whole internet knows about it but unless I had a 19 year old daughter I would not have known. Use a small eyeliner brush when applying. Be careful! Disclaimer – this is off label use and i am not an expert. But really, is it just for men? 🙂

Of course there is nothing wrong with aging (consider the alternative) for either gender but let’s be real, men get more of a pass.  In any case, I strongly believe “looking older is not the same as looking bad.”
