The events in the news recently have me feeling worried, sad and less than hopeful.
I am all about confronting the truth about the serious problems we face as humans and trying to help solve them.
But sometimes distraction and avoidance can be a healthy way to cope with news induced stress.
One thing I like to do to distract myself is by watching comedy specials.
This month I want to recommend three women comedians I like – all on Netflix.
*Disclaimer – the language and content may be offensive to some viewers!
Sarah Silverman – A Speck of Dust.
This 2017 special is labelled both Raunchy and Dark Comedy so ya. But I absolutely love Sarah Silverman. She talks about reproductive rights and Barbie and other feminist issues.
Katherine Ryan – Glitter Room.
This young woman is from Canada and I had never heard of her before I watched the special. She is still pretty sassy but maybe not as political as Sarah Silverman.
Whitney Cummings – Can I Touch It?
This is her fourth Netflix special and Whitney gives us her take on sex robots. And she has some good points 🙂
what are some of your favorite Netflix specials?
I absolutely LOVE Tig Notaro! She has one Netflix special that I know of, Happy to be Here. She also has a show on Amazon called One Mississippi that is one of my all time favourite shows. Check her out if you haven’t already!
I like her too! – I will be checking these out for sure 🙂 thanks!
