If you don’t listen to podcasts, you should.
You can listen on any device, a computer, an pad or a smart phone. If you have blue tooth head phones you can putter around, wash dishes, go for a walk, all while listening to podcasts.
I first wrote about podcasts in 2017 here. This blog post which explains more about how to listen and contains three of my favorite ones (at that time).
Since there are millions of topics and separate podcasts, it is time to tell you about three newer ones I have listened to.
Number one is called “Strangers” and is an interview show with producer Lea Thau. It makes strangers into ‘strangers no more’ by introducing you to real people, and letting you get to know them. Back in 2014 Lea did a four part series called Love Hurts which was a personal exploration into why she was single. She actually interviews men who did not want to see her again after a couple of dates (or more) which is about the bravest thing I can think of both of them doing. It’s pretty personal and also riveting. If you are into that sort of thing 🙂
Number two is called “The Whole Beautiful” and is a collection of stories and musings by a yoga teacher named Erin Jade. Erin is super smart and a really good writer. Her transition from yoga teacher to movement educator parallels mine so closely it feels like I could have written some of this stuff (if i was a much better writer!) The episode I am choosing to share (although they are all good) is called ‘The Right Hard Way’. In this 18 minute episode it she really nails the modern yoga teacher’s dilemma in the most compelling prose. If you have ever wondered about its like to be a modern yoga teacher, listen up.
Number three is less personal but no less specific. It is a podcast I talked about in class a while back called “Mindful Movement” with teacher Kathryn Bruni-Young. In this interview she speaks with Dr. Sarah Kim, a sports medicine doctor about movement, joint replacements and pain. Fascinating!
