This month since the weather is warming up I thought I’d do a body skin care round up of things I think have made my skin a better birthday suit to live in!
Number one is this homemade sugar scrub my pal Sophie made for our winter retreat. It is coconut oil, sugar and lemon zest with a little lemon oil in it. So good! and easy to make during the warmer months when your coconut oil is soft. My daughter just made us another batch – we keep it in the fridge.
This cream is the best! This version is called Renewing SA cream because it has salysilic acid to exfoliate the skin and also contains Ceramides and Vitamin D. When we age our skin does not ‘turn over’ as efficiently as it used to and can lead to drier skin and loss of tone. This cream for my body is what retinol is for my face – anti aging!
Collagen is an insoluble protein that accounts for 1/3 of the protein in our bodies and 70% of the protein in our skin. It is a complex protein, made up of many different amino acids, but most commonly proline, glycine and hydroxyproline. The important thing to know is that these amino acids are not present in muscle meats and many of us do not get enough of these with our modern diets. Hydrolyzed Collagen is beneficial in replacing the synovial fluids between the joints and secondly, to repair and build cartilage weakened by overuse through impact and stress. It will benefit hair, skin tissue, muscle, cartilage, ligaments and blood cell growth.
This is a powder that I drink in my coffee! It is completely tasteless and it dissolves completely and adds some protein to my coffee. I have been using it for 6 months now and I really think it makes a difference, but it takes that long to see results.
enjoy!
